Summer Fun - Favorite Parks

Summer is here! And we know that finding the perfect park is always an adventure! Here are some of our favorite local parks and their features.

Woodley Gardens Park - 900 Nelson St, Rockville, MD 20850

Located in Rockville, this park has lots of shade! There are swings, and two playsets for different age groups, a 4 person seesaw and some climbing and spinning equipment. Behind the park there is a lovely trail and stream to explore. There are also baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and volleyball courts. Across the street there are wonderful local businesses for lunch and cold treats. Bathrooms are not always open and there isn’t a water fountain.

Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park - 1800 Piccard Dr, Rockville, MD 20850

Located in King Farm this is a great park for kids of multiple ages and ride on toys! It has a smaller area perfect for new walkers and crawlers and a larger structure for older kids. There are slides and swings and cute animals to climb all over. The park is arranged within a paved circle so kids can also ride their ride-ons around. Unfortunately, this park isn’t well shaded so it’s best for cooler days or morning/early evening play. Bathrooms are sometimes available past the basketball courts.

Griffith Park - 29 S Summit Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877

This beautiful park in Gaithersburg was recently updated and always a fun time! There are plenty of structures to climb, a 4 person seesaw and a gated small park for younger kids. This park also has swings and shaded picnic benches nearby. Located by City Hall you also have access to bathrooms and water fountains. You can watch the trains drive by and run around the large grassy field. The park is also near City Hall’s concert pavilion that puts on wonderful daytime kids concerts and family friendly evening concerts. And by the train station, there is a community museum, a train car you can play in, and a water pad that opens June 20th - hours are listed on their website: https://www.gaithersburgmd.gov/recreation/parks-fields/olde-towne-plaza

Greenbrier Local Park - 12525 Glen Rd, Potomac, MD 20854

This fairly new park has a shaded picnic pavilion, lots of structures for climbing and plenty of space for littles to run around. There is plenty of parking and access to a couple portapotties. It’s a little bit of a drive but typically worth it for an adventure.

Ridge Road Park - 21155 Frederick Rd, Germantown, MD 20876

This park is full of shade which is wonderful during the summer months. There is a bathroom on site and picnic tables near by. Its away from the parking lot so safe for littles who like to run and has swings, slides and plenty to climb!

Mooseum Park and Adventure Playground - 18028 Central Park Cir, Boyds, MD 20841; 17920 Germantown Park Dr, Germantown, MD 20874

Both of these play areas are located within the Germantown Soccer plex. There is plenty of parking, grassy areas to explore, access to bathrooms, and more! Adventure Playground is rather large, so make sure you have a plan for all the littles. It also has musical instruments, a large castle, and cool climbing structures.

Cabin John Park - 7400 Tuckerman Lane Bethesda, MD 20817

This park is also large but on a slant so you can keep your eyes on your littles as they run about. There’s a play tractor, a swirly caterpillar to climb, so many slides and different playscapes for littles to explore. If you walk down the path, there is also train families can ride for a fee. My kids favorite feature was a little pig machine that eats up your trash so make sure you save some trash for that joy! There are bathrooms, plenty of parking, and shade! It’s also close to Montgomery Mall if you want to head indoors for a quick lunch.

And, of course, don’t forget that the preschool playground is always available for play! If we are in the office that day, stop by and say hello!
