Staff

All staff members at Good Shepherd Preschool meet or exceed the educational requirements of the Maryland State Department of Education.

All teachers of Early Pre-Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten classes have bachelor's or master's degrees, experience working with young children, and additional training and coursework in early childhood education. Assistant teachers have at minimum high school diplomas, experience working with young children, and additional training and coursework in early childhood education.

GSLP's Administrative Director, Jennifer Coxson, has a Master of Business Administration degree as well as additional college-level coursework in child development, early childhood curriculum, and administration of child care programs. She spent three years working in GSLP's classrooms before moving on to become co-director in 2014. Mrs. Coxson manages all business aspects of the program, including the preschool's finances, food program, enrollment, and student records, and she serves as the main point of contact for prospective and current families.

GSLP's Educational Program Director, Colleen Fischer, has a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as additional college-level coursework in child development, early childhood curriculum, and administration of child care programs. She has five years' experience teaching in a classroom setting, including three years spent teaching in Good Shepherd's afternoon pre-kindergarten program before becoming co-director in 2014. Ms. Fischer guides training and evaluation for GSLP's teaching staff, coordinates the school's programming and curriculum development, and writes and edits the school newsletter and website.

The directors, teachers, and assistant teachers participate in the Maryland Child Care Credential program, which requires extensive continuing education in child development, early childhood curriculum, special needs, professionalism, communication, and health, safety, and nutrition. Staff members are certified in First Aid and CPR and are active members of area Christian congregations.
